Nova is designed to easily fit architectures supported by major providers. The downloadable diagram below (Core-capabilities.pdf), shows potential Azure implementations on Ethereum. The template allows you to pick modules and components to deploy including blockchain stack, type of client application, and support for IoT integration. Once deployed,  the Blockchain Workbench provides access to Web, iOS and Android apps. Beyond IoT integration, enterprises can also leverage Azure resources for AI/ML.

Consensus, Auditability & Interoperability

    NOVA is designed to work with a number of protocols and consensus algorithms. For each Blockchain application, a different protocol and/or consensus may be required to achieve optimal performance.


Optimal performance is often achieved by combining protocols and consensus. NOVA boasts interoperability between protocols and consensus to support the same. Data streams can be divided in separate channels. This allows for a multi-ledger-based architecture that includes sidechains with various throughput speeds and permission structures. 


It is clear that PoW (Proof of Work) consensus algorithms have major limitations, specifically in terms of power consumption and scalability. NOVA regard PoA (Proof of Authority), PoS (Proof of Stake), and it is variant DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake), to be the most suitable alternatives. However, there are many applications that require full decentralisation. Until such time that new protocols and consensus algorithms are developed, we cannot disregard PoW and its more sustainable variant DPoW (Delayed Proof of Work) as a whole. 


NOVA outlines a new breed of consensuses algorithms that utilise either a PoET, PoW, DPoW, PoA, PoS or DPoS algorithm or a combination of these, thus creating a hybrid mechanism. Please view the downloadable diagram below (NOVA Interoperability schematic .pdf)


NOVA is currently integrated with Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum. Because IOT Devices and protocols support different programming languages, forms and structures, interoperability is a challenge. To overcome this challenge NOVA uses “Service Busses & Logic Apps” in combination with an anchoring protocol for audit purposes. This process ensures high immutability of the sidechain.
